Mountain biking is referred to under Summer Activities.

Keen Road Cyclists

For either those wanting to experience some of the famous Cols, or those seeking a serious training week, the house is wonderfully positioned. It is literally at the bottom of the Western approach to the Category 1 Col de Peyresourde. At the end of the valley the Col d'Azet is a wonderful climb over to the mountain town of St Lary.

Transfers and support vehicles can be arranged on request, and whilst we do understand the importance to many groups of self guided trips we can offer a local guide for those seeking local knowledge and planning so all you have to do is concentrate on the stunning scenery.

For a more relaxing bike ride

If you want a relaxing cycle, it is 6 km down a very pretty road along the valley of the river Neste d'Louron to Arreau, or cycle a short distance towards the end of the valley at Loudenvielle and ride around the wonderful lake.

"I have recently returned from watching the Pyrenean mountain stages of the Tour de France whilst staying at the wonderful lodge, L'Ancienne Poste, where I was based in the heart of the Haute Pyrenees, actually, at the base of Col de Peyresourde, and within easy reach of most of the other major Pyrenean climbs."

"This lodge was a terrific find. It is the most perfect base, not only for watching The Tour, but also for cycling these Cols."

"It is brand new, a converted old village post office, hosted by the most delightful James Dealtry, fully catered by resident chef, and sleeps 12 - 14. It is a very special place and I can’t think of anywhere better to experience the thrill of either spectating or having a go at the mighty Cols oneself."
